About Our Philosophy

Every Child is Unique

At Mount Saint Thomas Preschool we believe children learn through play, this is evident through their own choice, intentional and spontaneous experiences and activities. This helps guide children’s development and encourage them to become their person and make sense of their world.



Our setting provides children with a loving, sustainable and caring environment to encourage them to learn, explore, take risks, imagine and develop according to their own needs. Children’s interests and beliefs are implemented into the program, environment and community on a weekly basis. We aim to implement the Reggio Emilia Approach which encourages more flexibility, open ended and play-based experiences allowing children to use hands-on exploration to discover and explore their interests.



Our Educators Nurture Children’s Confidence

Well-trained, committed and experienced Educators are a vital component to providing quality care. Our Educators are learners too and strive for the continuous improvement of our preschool through ongoing professional development. We value collaboration and the different skills, strengths and experiences each of our Educators bring.


We aim to connect with our community through families, local businesses and a variety of other pathways. We believe Community engagement in Early Childhood Education services is essential for providing quality care and continue to improve us as educators.

Families are encouraged to contribute to their children’s learning progress and continue to build ongoing positive relationships between educators and families.
